Every year, the number of insects on the planet becomes less than 2.5%. If such dynamics continue, then after a hundred years they will completely die out, according to a scientist from the University of Sydney Francisco Sanchez Bayo.

Scientists from the universities of Queensland, Sydney, as well as the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Beijing have studied over seventy scientific papers on the extinction of insects. After analyzing the data, they came to disappointing conclusions.

Over 30 years, the number of 40% of all types of insects crawled down, a third of them are under threat of extinction. The loss of at least one link from the ecosystem will inevitably lead to large-scale environmental disaster. Recall that most wild plants are pollinated only by insects.

The reasons for this deplorable situation, scientists believe the massive use of insecticides in agriculture. In the past 20 years, neonicotinoids and fipronil have become particularly active, which cause the greatest damage to insects.

Francisco Sanchez Bayo emphasizes that the way of farming needs to be urgently changed, because current methods cause great damage to nature.
