In 2020, the project of the ANO “Baikal Center for Scientific, Educational and Environmental Initiatives,” involving the reuse of household and industrial waste, will be implemented in the Irkutsk Region, the director of the ANO, doctor of biological sciences Olga Belykh, said.
According to Olga Belykh, hardwoods contain up to 25%, and in conifers - up to 38% lignin, which is a complex polymer compound.
At the same time, lignin is available for processing. Irkutsk scientists have created a biotechnological method in which waste from the production of woodworking enterprises is converted into feed with a high content of proteins and vitamins. They can be used to feed fish and young chickens, the author of the project said.
Chickens have arithmetic counting abilities. They can distinguish some geometric shapes.
Feed additives for poultry and fish are based on straw and sawdust. The raw materials are crushed, steamed and dried, then it matures. At the end of the process, the plant ingredient is added to the mass.
According to Olga Belykh, the resulting feed increases the live weight gain of poultry and fish by 6-15%. Reduce the amount of feed by 1 kg. gives a gain in live weight at the level of 0.11-0.25 kg.
In 2014, the project was presented at the exhibition of organic products in Paris, where he earned a diploma.
