Today, onion in Ukraine is dominated by onions brought from Kazakhstan. Own reserves of Ukrainian farmers, alas, were exhausted too quickly.

As a result, Ukrainian buyers form an unusually high demand for onions in Kazakhstan. This allows Kazakh suppliers to seriously raise prices for onions, as they are almost the only suppliers of onions to the Ukrainian market.

In turn, Ukrainian buyers, even with the support of Kazakh farmers, still do not eradicate the onion deficit in their country. Most of them put up for sale only a small part of the goods at a high price, hiding the bulk of Kazakh onions in their vegetable stores until spring. Those farmers who still have stocks of their own, Ukrainian onions, also hold it until the spring to sell when consumers form even higher demand for this product.

As a result, over the year, onions on Ukrainian shelves went up in price almost five times. And today, quality onions are sold at an average price of 17 hryvnias per kilogram, and small onions in the same volume can be bought for 12-13 hryvnias.
