During January-August this year, the production of wool in all categories of Ukrainian households decreased by 9.5% to 1.3 million tons, compared with the same period last year.
This is evidenced by the data of the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine.
In particular, enterprises during the indicated period produced 18% less wool (169 tons) than last year, and households - 8.2% less (1.22 million tons). At the same time, almost 88% of wool production is accounted for by households.
During the eight months of 2019, most of the wool was produced in the Odessa region - 543 tons, which is 39% of the total production in Ukraine. Of these, only 45 tons were produced at enterprises, the rest - at private households.
The Transcarpathian region (162 tons) is the second largest producer of these products, and the Nikolaev (110 tons) is the third. The remaining regions lag behind in these indicators by a wide margin.
Earlier it was reported that in Ukraine only two enterprises are engaged in the purchase of sheep wool - in the Chernihiv and Kharkov regions. Due to low demand, the purchase prices for wool are low and they start from 25 UAH / kg.
