According to EastFruit project analysts, who rely on daily price monitoring information, carrot prices fell again this week in Russia. This was due to an increase in the market supply of vegetables of late and medium varieties.
From the first days of the week, carrots fell in price by 9%. Today, agricultural producers from the main growing regions offer these products at a price of 7-14 rubles / kg, which is 0.11-0.21 dollars / kg.
Industry experts see the reason for the current decline in carrot prices in Russia in the rapid increase in product offerings on the market. In turn, an increase in supply is associated with mass harvesting.
A large number of carrot producers have reported harvest start this week. The modest demand for the product does not have the best effect on prices.
It is noteworthy that at the same time last year, carrots on the Russian market were sold at about 23% more expensive than today. Industry experts explain this situation by the increase in carrot growing areas in the country.
Experts say that further cheaper products will be possible if demand for it does not begin to grow. Moreover, the harvest of carrots has just begun and its number in the market will increase.
