The beginning of the year was marked for the French agrarians by an extraordinary event. French authorities have approved tax increases on the use of pesticides that are harmful to the environment. The state project came into force from the first days of 2019.
From now on, the cost of chemical-based fertilizers will increase several times, which will inevitably entail additional costs for grain. In other words, the maintenance of one hectare of barley crops will rise in price by 21 euros, and the fertilizer of one hectare of wheat will increase by 24 euros.
This fact is unusually outraged by the producers of French grain, as well as specialists in the cultivation of oilseeds and beets. After all, now they have to spend a total of one hundred million euros more on maintenance of their fields than before the bill was agreed.
Today, farmers are criticizing the decision of the French parliament. The Grain Association is convinced that this decision is not a fight against environmental pollution, but "complete autism," which will drive French farmers into serious tax bondage.
