The main office of the European Parliament received an application from representatives of the Danish Socialist Party.
In their appeal, Danes who are not indifferent to the fate of animals urge at the official level to stop the cruel treatment of geese and ducks in the territory of the EU countries.
In particular, the statement of the Danish socialists implies a ban on the production of such a world-famous delicacy as foie gras.
Note that foie gras is a specially prepared goose or duck liver. For production, overfed birds are required, in which, due to the increased calorie content of the diet, fatty liver syndrome occurs - this organ in geese and ducks as a result of excessive nutrition increases in size by more than six, or even ten times.
It is noteworthy that in the Danish open spaces the production of foie gras is under the strictest ban. Many other EU states have followed in the footsteps of Denmark, but far from all.
The common EU market implies the free import of foie gras, including into Denmark. And this fact is unusually depressing for Danish activists. As a result, they are looking for support from like-minded people from other countries, intending to initiate the creation of a common law for the entire European Union that would resolve this sensitive issue.
