To date, many different varieties of apples have been bred: various shapes, colors and tastes. But still, the old varieties are distinguished by their brightness, they are difficult to confuse with modern apples.
Grade "White filling"
The taste of "White filling" is known to many, it is difficult to confuse it with other varieties. The skin is thin with gray or green dots. This variety ripens early and gives an excellent harvest. Trees grow up to 4 m in height.
These apple trees are winter-hardy and medium resistant to pests. They need to be pollinated. “White filling” is known to many as “Papiroka”. The main disadvantages: poor storage and portability. Apples quickly lose their marketable appearance and dark spots appear at the slightest blow.
Grade "Grushovka Moscow"
The apple-tree variety "Moscow Grushovka" has been known for a very long time. The fruits are small, yellow-green. Ripen in early August. The taste has a characteristic acidity. Long-lived tree with proper care bears fruit up to 65 years. Incredible frost resistance: withstands temperatures up to -50 ° C.
This variety needs pollinators, without them the number of ovaries decreases. The tree has a branched crown and branches, rather dense foliage. Small to medium sized fruits. The yield of this variety is good, but it is poorly stored and transported. After harvesting, apples are stored for only 2-3 weeks. Further they are suitable for preparations: jam, mashed potatoes, dried fruits.
Variety "Antonovka"
Antonovka is a very old winter Russian apple variety. Planting seedlings gives a harvest in about 3-4 years. Trees of this variety are strong, frost-resistant. Antonovka bears fruit very well - up to 300 kg of apples can be harvested from one mature tree.
When harvested, the fruits have a light green color with a raspberry blush. A tasty, tart fruit with a rather sour taste. It ripens from the second half of September to frost. The apples are stored very well, about 5 months and in the process of storage they turn yellow.
Apples emit gaseous ethylene, which accelerates their ripening. You can put unripe fruits in a bag with one good apple to make them ripe faster.
Variety Borovinka
The apple-tree variety Borovinka is widespread in the vastness of Russia and far beyond its borders. Borovinka is an autumn apple-tree variety that bears fruit since the end of summer. The ripening time of the fruit may vary depending on the region of cultivation of apples. Regular rounded fruits have a smooth surface and moderately shine in the sun.
Apples are small in size (weigh about 90 g). The pulp of the fruit is juicy, dense, granular. The color is mainly light green; sometimes it is yellow with pinkish spots. Apples are good for eating fresh. Perfect for workpieces - processing into juices, preserves, wine.
Japanese Chisato Iwasaki from the city of Hirosaki has grown a huge apple on his farm. It was in 2005, and the weight of the fetus was 1.849 kg.
