The Bulgarian government is reporting a new wave of bird flu infection. The flu strain, the causative agent of which was registered in Bulgaria, is H5N8.
In particular, chickens, as well as pigeons and several pheasants that lived on one of the farms in the Vidin region, became victims of the virus - we are talking about the village of Kosovo in the Bregovo region. Fears that the birds were infected were confirmed by laboratory tests conducted by food safety experts.
“We had to destroy all the birds from this farm in order to avoid the spread of bird flu,” say sanitary control experts. - Today we carry out mass preventive measures throughout the country. State authorities are actively promoting a large-scale campaign against bird flu and are doing everything to prevent the pathogen from leaving the country! ”
It should be noted that the H5N8 strain of bird flu is most often spread through contact between poultry and migratory birds.
