This is stated in the message of the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association (UPOA). “The outgoing season can be called unsuccessful for Ukrainian melon producers, because it was full of difficulties with selling products and low prices for farmers.

You can also add that the adverse weather conditions of last summer, accompanied by drought in the main regions of production of Ukrainian melons and watermelons - in the south of Ukraine - also affected the quality of the products, ”said Yekaterina Zvereva, Director for Development of UPAA.

According to EastFruit daily monitoring data, in 2018, the gourd selling season ended in mid-September. This year, manufacturers are already starting to report the end of the season for the sale of watermelons and melons.

Today, manufacturers sell the remaining products at 1.5-4 UAH / kg., Which is 0.07-0.16 dollars / kg. This is about twice as much as it was in the last days of the last working week.

The price of the last batches of melons is slightly higher - 2.5-6 UAH / kg., Which is equivalent to 0.10-0.24 dollars / kg. Last week, their price was 15% higher than now.
