From the first days of the current year to the present day, agricultural facilities in the Stavropol Territory have more than doubled (if we compare the figures for the same period last year), to increase the rate of mutton production.
Local livestock breeders and butchers themselves admit that the export potential of the Russian Federation served as an excellent incentive to increase production: the sale of domestic meat on foreign markets and the high demand among foreign consumers encouraged Stavropol farmers to become more active in the production of meat products.
It is known that in 2018 pastoralists of the Stavropol Territory shipped over 3.4 thousand tons of mutton to foreign buyers. And today, in 2019, they set themselves more ambitious plans to increase productivity, intending to export more mutton 30-40% more than a year ago.
In order to fulfill the task, the regional farmers are increasing the number of sheep, and now they are participating in the breeder company. At the moment, sheep farmers in the region have managed to accept about 115 thousand representatives of the new generation. Of these, breeding lambs - a little more than 56 thousand.
In total, in 2019, Stavropol pastoralists plan to get at least 142 thousand lambs, of which, according to preliminary estimates, there will be about 75 thousand breeding.
