This year in the Kherson region there is a generous harvest of fruit crops. Through the efforts of local farmers in the region, 9 thousand tons of fruits and berries were grown and harvested. About this on his Facebook page wrote the director of the department of agricultural development of the Kherson regional state administration Alexander Palivoda.
So, today farmers of the Kherson region have already collected about 6 thousand tons of fruits and 3 thousand tons of berries.
“In the Belozersky district this year, a good harvest of peaches and apricots. Now in the region, not only cleaning is continuing, but also fruit and berry picking. Today, about 6 thousand tons of berries have already been harvested, ”Palivoda reports.
Earlier it was reported that about 700 hectares were allocated for growing berries in the Kherson region (gourds are not taken into account). Data on the region were provided by the deputy director of the regional department of agro-industrial development Andrei Nedelko.
The main part of the plantations are blackberries and strawberries. In addition, figs, raspberries, and a small number of exotic crops such as pawpaw, or banana tree and goji berries are also grown in the region.
In the spring of this year, given the mild weather conditions of this winter, the farmers of the Kherson region expected to get a good harvest of berries. They expected that the yield would be 30% higher - up to 5 thousand tons of berries.
