In the Nenets Autonomous District, they made a real breakthrough in the comprehensive school curriculum: local teachers decided to teach schoolchildren the basics of fishing.

Teaching the Nenets children the craft of fishing today already takes place in two schools of the district at once: starting in September 2018, students learn the basics of fishing at the school of the village of Velikovisochnaya and at the A. Pyrerka educational institution.

The course “Basics of Fisheries” lasts 34 hours and helps students in grades 5-7 to not only delve into the intricacies of fishing, but also to understand the basics of making a variety of fish products, to taste various seafood delicacies.

The development of the program for future Nenets fishermen was carried out by employees of the regional department of education, as well as workers in the cultural and sports sectors and the department of natural resources, ecology and agribusiness.

Seven students of grades 5 and 7 have already familiarized themselves with the production process of various fish products, and also took part in a tasting organized after.
