To date, the number of cattle in the farms of the Russian Federation totals about nineteen million individuals. And this is 0.9% less than the indicator that was recorded in May 2018. Such information was shared with the audience of Rosstat analytics.
According to them, over the past month, the number of Russian cows has decreased by 0.3% and today is equal to eight million individuals. As for goats and sheep, their number also showed a tendency to reduce livestock.
And today in the country you can count twenty four and a half million goats and sheep, although a month ago the figure was 4.3% higher.
It will not be superfluous to note that while the number of horned animals is declining, the number of domestic pigs in the Russian Federation is growing. And today the total number of pigs consists of almost twenty-five thousand individuals. Provided that a month ago in the country there were 2.7% less pigs.
It is also important to add that the structure of agricultural livestock in the Russian Federation today is proportionally as follows: cows make up almost 42% of the total number of farm animals in the Russian Federation.
The share of sheep and goats is almost 46%. And pigs make up a little less than 12%. For clarity, we note that a year ago the situation was as follows: cows - 42%, pigs - 13%, goats and sheep - 45%.
